Over the past few years, State Trustees have been aiming to position themselves as the most highly respected agency in their industry. However, their digital marketing team had to manage an outdated website built on a Content Management System that did not offer the flexibility they required to achieve their goals.
State Trustees turned to webdesignWorks, to build a brand new website from scratch on a modern Content Management System that provides self-service access and a ‘self-managed’ experience for their Marketing team. In addition, they sought a functional, fresh, and responsive design with a strong focus on enhancing the overall customer journey, together with ecommerce functionality and a strict adherence to security and accessibility standards.
Throughout the Discussion and Discovery phase of the project, WebDesignWorks performed extensive research of over 400 websites both within the industry and beyond and clearly identified where improvements in the user journey needed to occur. During this research phase the WebDesignWorks designers were guided by the Accessibility Guidelines and Use Cases that were developed in conjunction with State Trustees, their key stakeholders and individual business units. The new design addressed all pre-existing design and functionality flaws and more importantly, empowered users to easily navigate throughout the website and consequently through to the product areas where the intention was to initially inform/educate users and subsequently convert them into customers.
Increasing conversions on the site was achieved through strong calls to action with distinct intentions throughout the site. Each page was designed to be simple and easy to navigate with fantastic contrast and keyboard navigation, which really allowed users to better absorb the messages and content being presented.
Over 14 unique page templates are used throughout the site, with a strong consistency in the colour palette (derived from the logo) and quality content that makes sense to the user in terms of layout and information processing. Strategic use of white space on the page ensured the site was search engine friendly, and more importantly, user friendly. The moderate use of rich imagery provides a level of comfort whilst maintaining decent Page Speed score of 86/100 and a 94/100 User Experience Score. The sticky, main navigation which is implemented site wide lets the user explore other services without confusion, at any stage of their website journey. The website also was designed to work well on all device sizes ensuring all users receive a positive browsing experience.
The ecommerce section of the website is customised to ensure customer needs were met with integration of address validation tools and the State Trustees Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system.
