Seoul plans to launch the first carrier rocket of its own design

South Korea will launch its first space rocket “Nuriho”, according to the Ministry of Science and Information and Communication Technologies of the republic.

The rocket is installed on the launch pad of the Naro cosmodrome in Jeolla-Namdo province. The launch is scheduled for October 21. At the same time, it is noted that, depending on weather conditions, it can be carried out in the period from October 22 to October 28.

It is emphasized that on September 30, preparations for the launch entered the final stage. Currently, all missile systems are being tested.

Recall that in 2010, the South Korean authorities allocated $1.8 billion for the development of the Nuriho space rocket. The weight of the device is 200 tons, it is equipped with liquid engines and will be launched into space with a mock-up of a payload weighing 1.5 tons.

Earlier it was reported that South Korea launched its own ballistic missile from a submarine. President Moon Jae-in was present at the rocket launch.
